The Inaugural UK Legume Research Community (UKLRC) Conference 2024 will be held jointly with the Defra Pulse Crop Genetic Improvement Network (PCGIN) Annual Stakeholder Meeting on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th February 2024 and will be hosted by the University of Reading in the Van Emden Lecture Theatre at the centre of our beautiful Whiteknights campus.
UKLRC 2024 runs from 9am on 14th until 1pm on 15th and will be followed directly by the PCGIN Stakeholder meeting on the afternoon of 15th. The programmes for the two meetings have been jointly designed to be complementary and we hope that the great majority of the community will attend both.
The UKLRC meeting has broad scope, including all aspects of fundamental and applied biology of forage and grain legumes including both model and crop species, genomics and breeding, production constraints, interactions with beneficial and pathogenic organisms, legume-based cropping systems and end use including processing into food and feeds, nutritional value and health benefits. The PCGIN meeting is more focused on genetic solutions to constraints on pea and bean production and its programme emphasises dialogue between industry stakeholders and the research community. Apart from this small distinction in scope, we guarantee that there will be no duplication of presentations between the two meetings and therefore recommend attending both meetings.
